Fantastic place for honeymoons!
The Villa Esmeralda is located directly on the beach and offers a magnificent view of the water. In addition to the location, the hotel stands out for the warmth and attention of the manager and staff, as well as the attention to detail. Despite the current situation, we felt very safe and comfortable. Particular importance is attached to the hygiene measures! We definitely want to come back and recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing vacation in the Algarve.

Travel in Corona times too!
Indescribably beautiful location. The private atmosphere with the small number of rooms and the great service made "traveling to Corona times" almost relaxed. We wanted to get out. After 3 months see something other than just the home garden. And we have to say, Portugal and this little Villa Esmeralda were perfect to lose the "fear" of traveling. The beaches in Germany will certainly be fuller this year than in this little oasis.

Staying with you is one of the best memories we have during this most tumultuous time! Thank you for your very kind, helpful, joyful, and hospitable spirit! We so enjoyed you, your staff, the hotel and the beach and will hopefully return someday to the Villa Esmeralda! Our love and prayers to you and your family and staff.

This is the best place to stay in Lagos. We will definitely come back.
Villa Esmerlda was the perfect place to stay. It was small and cosy in the most idyllic location overlooking the sea and with direct access to the beautiful beach. The location was stunning. The hotel was spotlessly clean and our bedroom had a balcony where you could watch sea and the sunset and listen to the waves. Plenty of room to read and sunbathe on the balcony where there were sun loungers and a little table and chairs. Lots of lovely walks on the door step both on the beach and on the cliffs. Breakfast was delicious and when we needed to leave early on our last day a special breakfast was prepared for us the night before. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Our little piece of paradise during our stay.
The dream location close to the beach (private road) and a good fish restaurant. The sea view from our room. The kindness and good humor of the boss and her collaborators. The little touches despite our late arrival (meal tray) and at the time of our departure. The calm and "human" dimension of the hotel (few rooms) facing the "all inclusive" behemoths that abound on this part of the coast.

Polyglott on tour Portugal
In the Tourist Guide "Polyglott on tour Portugal" issue 2010, the Hotel Villa Esmeralda in Lagos is highlighted as an accommodation tip: Great beach location close to the Ponta da Piedade with a view to Sagres."
Beautiful small hotel with a unique view of the sea. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere. A private path leads directly to the beach. There are two restaurants on the beach. We had breakfast every morning on the terrace with sea view (very good). Our room was very clean and spacious in spite of the extra bed for our son. A car would be an advantage.

A jewel with a view!
The Villa Esmeralda is a small estate on a hill (with a small path leading to the beach) and offers a fantastic view. Great vacation for those seeking tranquillity or just to switch off. The few rooms and the friendly and open-minded staff provide a private atmosphere. Small but adequate breakfast buffet. Dinner is available, should be booked in the morning because the food is bought fresh every day and then prepared. A very good restaurant (excellent and varied fish dishes) is right on the beach (distance 200 m). The area offers much to see, therefore, a rental car is necessary. The busy town of Lagos gives you an interesting night out (Note: better take a taxi, as there is no parking).

August 2009, hotel recommendation in MERIAN Guide Algarve:
We are looking forward to a further recommendation in the August 2009 edition of the MERIAN Algarve travel guide. There you can read the following:
"Hotel Villa Esmeralda
Warning: highly addictive! Hardly a hotel is so close to the beach. After the champagne breakfast in the Moorish arcades, you want to jump straight to the into the blue waters of the Atlantic. There are only a few exclusive rooms in this small white palace, but the Honeymoon Suite is spacious enough for a memorable time. However, as honeymoons are not usually repeated, there is still a room for all lovers of good design at Senhora Hanna Tavares Santos’ hotel, which also offers golf packages."
November 2008, Hotel Villa Esmeralda - the accommodation tip in Lagos, one of the most beautiful cities in the Algarve
In the leaflet "The best of the Algarve" with the November 2008 issue of “GEOSAISON”, the Hotel Villa Esmeralda in Lagos is highlighted as an accommodation tip.
“Boa Noite! Here silence lives!
Enchanted country houses, cosy beach hotels, luxury resorts or windmills with a Moorish design - our accommodation tips leave nothing to wish for.
Villa EsmeraldaSuperbly located on the beach, lawn reaching almost to the sea - here you can enjoy splendid sunsets and a view up to Sagres. Near the rock formation Ponta da Piedade. Lagos, Porto de Mos."
The well known Portuguese magazine Sabado has singled out in its edition of April 2006 the Hotel Villa Esmeralda as one of the most beautiful and outstanding hotel of the Algarve.
The main criteria for this choice were: the charming location, the high quality ambience and the exellente service.
"Sabado" also choose Villa Esmeralda for its front page photograph from the other participants of Portugal, Spain, Madeira and the Azores."
